The founder of Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Chief Edwin Clark, has died.

Confiance News gathered from the official X handle of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) on Tuesday.

Although the cause of his death was not explicitly stated in the post, Confiance News, however, gathered from the official X handle of Trending Explained, a handle that explains trends on X, that he died after brief illness.

It said: “The prominent Ijaw leader, developed breathing issues on Saturday night, he was hospitalized in Abuja. It got worse on Sunday, and on Monday night he passed.”

Chief Clark was also the Federal Commissioner for Information under the Murtala Mohammed administration.

Reacting to his death, NDDC said, “The late Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, leader was a rare gem for the people of the Niger Delta region, and his unrelenting advocacy for the region and Nigeria’s unity and development will remain evergreen in our memories.

For us in the NDDC, Pa Clark was an outstanding leader not just for the South-South geopolitical zone and the Niger Delta but for Nigeria and the black race.”
