United Capital Plc has launched United Capital Asset Management West Africa Limited (UCAMWAL) in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, introducing two CFA franc-denominated mutual funds: the UCAMWAL Bond Fund and the UCAMWAL Diversified Fund.

The company told Confiance News in a statement on Monday.

This move, Confiance News gathered, marks a key step in the company’s pan-African expansion strategy and the start of UCAMWAL’s operations.

The funds aim to provide accessible, sophisticated wealth management solutions for investors across the eight WAEMU countries—Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal, and Togo—catering to diverse risk profiles and long-term financial goals.

UCAMWAL Bond Fund: A low-risk, open-ended fund investing in fixed-income and money market instruments, ideal for conservative investors seeking stable returns and capital preservation.

UCAMWAL Diversified Fund: A balanced fund allocating assets across fixed income, money market instruments, and equities, designed for investors aiming for capital growth and income diversification.

Group CEO Peter Ashade emphasized the launch’s significance, stating, “This marks the start of our pan-African expansion in the WAEMU region. Our mission is to foster financial inclusion and economic resilience in Africa, leveraging our expertise to drive cross-border investment and prosperity.”

Corroborating, Ejikeme Okoli, Director of Africa Operations, added, “Our presence in WAEMU is about creating impact through collaboration. We aim to deliver tailored financial solutions, manage risks, and drive inclusive growth, inviting investors to join us in this journey of empowerment.”

UCAMWAL Managing Director Labas Bamba noted, “These funds blend global standards with local insights to meet the unique needs of investors, supporting their diverse financial goals.”

Confiance News learnt that the launch aligns with WAEMU’s need for innovative solutions to channel domestic savings into productive investments, strengthening the region’s capital markets. With United Capital Plc’s proven track record—managing nearly ₦2 trillion in assets and over $500 million in mutual funds in Nigeria—UCAMWAL is poised to become a trusted investment partner for individuals, institutions, and governments in the region.
