CRMI honours NDIC with award for leadership in risk management‎

The Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has been recognized as a trailblazer in risk management, clinching the esteemed “Institutional Leadership in Risk Advocacy” award at the 2025 Chartered Risk Management Institute (CRMI) Annual International Conference.

The event, themed “Global Risks, Local Solutions,” took place at Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. The CRMI lauded NDIC for its steadfast dedication to fostering robust risk management practices within Nigeria’s financial ecosystem.

The institute highlighted NDIC’s proactive supervision, comprehensive enterprise risk frameworks, and persistent advocacy as key factors in securing the award.

“NDIC continues to demonstrate leadership in safeguarding depositors’ funds and enhancing financial system stability,” a CRMI spokesperson noted. Mrs. Amal Haruna, Director of NDIC’s Enterprise Risk Management Department, accepted the award on behalf of the Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Thompson Oludare Sunday.

Expressing gratitude, she remarked, “We are deeply honoured by this recognition from the CRMI. It reaffirms NDIC’s commitment to advancing risk culture and contributing to a safer, more sustainable financial sector in Nigeria.”

The conference showcased Nigeria’s innovative approaches to addressing global challenges through localized solutions. NDIC’s contributions were a focal point, underscoring its pivotal role in ensuring financial stability.

In attendance were key NDIC figures, including Mrs. Amal Haruna, Director of Enterprise Risk Management; Mr. Sule Olawale, Director of Claims Resolution; Mrs. Adedayo Olukoya, Director of Bank Examination; Ms. Regina Dimlong, Assistant Director of Communication & Public Affairs; and Mr. Mohammed Yayangida, former Director of Insurance and Surveillance and a CRMI Council Member.

The award marks another milestone in NDIC’s ongoing mission to protect depositors and strengthen confidence in Nigeria’s financial system through exemplary risk management practices.
