Why 2026 could be your year of extraordinary breakthroughs‎

‎Year 2026 will mark the end of ordinary living for those willing to embrace divine discipline and fervent pursuit of God.

‎Confiance News gathered from a sermon delivered by Pastor Bola Odutola, Provincial Pastor in Charge of Lagos Province 40, Solidrock Parish, Ojodu, Lagos State.

‎Preaching from Psalm 25:1, Pastor Odutola proclaimed: “By the time this year is ending, your life will no longer be ordinary, but there is plenty of work for you to do.” He challenged the congregation to reject a mindset of scarcity, asserting that true lack stems not from insufficient resources but from inequitable distribution and personal ignorance of divine allocation.

‎“With God, the Atlantic Ocean can be compressed into a bottle,” he declared. “With God, everything man will eat can become a few grains. With God, one grain can feed the world.” Highlighting stark global contrasts—people sleeping under bridges while mansions stand empty, others walking miles for food while some jog the same distance to lose weight—Odutola urged believers to “fight the good fight” as exhorted in 1 Timothy 6:12 (KJV).

‎The pastor emphasized that everything desired in life already exists in surplus in someone else’s hands. The path to breakthrough, he said, lies in vertical revelation from God rather than horizontal information from people. “It is better to disconnect from men of God and connect to the God of men,” he advised. “Vertical transmission of information is what makes men rich, not horizontal.”

‎Addressing widespread spiritual complacency, Odutola pointed out the irony that many struggle to meditate on the Bible yet spend hours on social media or watching football. Success in 2026, he insisted, requires learning to “stay alone,” as “the journey of destiny is crafted in silence.” Referencing Genesis 24:63 and Deuteronomy 29:29, he called for believers to operate like Solomon in his prime—immersed in wisdom and scripture.

‎A major focus of the message was revolutionary prayer. Pastor Odutola warned against “empty prayers,” urging intense, focused intercession modeled after Elijah (1 Kings 18:42), who bowed with his head between his knees, and Jesus, whose sweat became like drops of blood. “The heart of the Christian is the rifle; the word of God is the bullet,” he explained. Christians must identify personal postures that foster concentration and “upload” scriptures into their hearts as ammunition.

‎“Why is the Christian not praying as he ought?” Odutola asked, citing Ecclesiastes 1:12-13. The issue, he said, is a failure to wholeheartedly seek and search. He cautioned against pride and distraction, including misplaced passion for sports teams, joking that some “pray for their team to win and cry” when it loses abroad while they mourn in Ojodu.

‎Confiance News reports that to rise spiritually, believers must fast consistently to subdue the flesh, avoid ungodly associations (Psalm 1:1-3), and prioritize God’s Word over entertainment. “If you are bored with the word of God, then it is a problem,” he stated bluntly.
