APC Chairman demands tech-driven Security to end Plateau bloodshed

‎Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has formally commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his compassionate visit to Plateau State following the tragic killings in Angwan Rukuba.
‎
‎Abimbola Tooki, Special Adviser on Media and Communications Strategy, Yilwatda told Confiance News in a statement on Friday.
‎
‎During the visit, Professor Yilwatda issued a stern call for a total overhaul of the state’s security architecture, insisting that Plateau must never be allowed to bleed again.
‎
‎
‎The National Chairman emphasized that traditional security methods are no longer sufficient against ruthless criminal networks.
‎
‎Confiance News gathered that Yilwatda advocated for an intelligence-led approach.
‎
‎He said: “The protection of lives and property must now be driven by technology, intelligence, and precision. We cannot use outdated tactics and expect different outcomes.”

‎To prevent future incursions, the Chairman proposed the immediate deployment of:
‎AI-Powered Surveillance: High-definition cameras to monitor flashpoints.
‎Drones: For real-time aerial reconnaissance and tracking.
‎Advanced Intelligence: Sophisticated mechanisms to neutralize threats before they materialize.

‎Professor Yilwatda noted that the perpetrators are often criminal elements living within or near the communities. He urged local leaders to break the silence and collaborate with security forces to expose these “invisible” invaders.
‎
‎He further highlighted the grave economic consequences of the persistent insecurity. Despite Plateau’s vast tourism and agricultural potential, the Chairman warned that no economy can thrive where fear reigns. He stressed that the state’s future and the prosperity of its youth depend entirely on restoring permanent peace.

‎President Tinubu was received by a broad coalition of leaders, including Governor Caleb Mutfwang, former governors, and traditional rulers. The delegation visited the bereaved families of the Angwan Rukuba attack, offering words of comfort and a promise of federal support.
‎The APC views this visit as a powerful signal of the Federal Government’s commitment to Plateau. Moving forward, the party expects broader engagements to foster inclusive solutions, justice, and reconciliation.

‎The National Chairman concluded with a firm directive to security agencies: Those who sow death and division must be hunted down and brought to justice without delay.
