Seplat Energy Plc has added two more laurels to its growing trophy shelf, clinching the Energy Company of the Year and Dividend Paying Company of the Year titles at the Nairametrics Capital Market Awards (NCMA) 2026 in Lagos.
The awards, confirmed by Confiance News, were presented on Friday at a ceremony that brought together leading players across Nigeria’s capital market ecosystem.
According to the statement reviewed by Confiance News, both recognitions were tied to Seplat Energy’s strong financial scorecard, including revenue growth, profit after tax, return on average equity, production output, dividend yield and payout ratio. Each metric was weighted under Nairametrics’ data-driven evaluation framework designed to measure long-term value creation and operational efficiency.
Nairametrics Founder and Chief Executive Officer Ugodre Obi-Chukwu said the awards exist to celebrate excellence, resilience and innovation within the capital market space. He noted that Nigeria’s market has held firm despite global economic headwinds, tighter financial conditions and exchange-rate volatility, buoyed by stronger investor confidence and increased retail participation.
The theme of this year’s ceremony, gathered by Confiance News, was “Capital Markets as a Pathway to Responsible Wealth Creation,” a framing Obi-Chukwu described as reflecting growing industry consensus that wealth creation must be sustainable, ethical and capable of delivering enduring value to businesses, investors and society alike.
Speaking on the wins, Seplat Energy’s Director of External Affairs and Social Performance, Chioma Afe, credited Nairametrics for its role in sustaining a healthy capital market and driving business accountability. She said industry awards raise standards and reinforce best practices.
”For Seplat Energy, this is a call to more exceptional performance and general business excellence,” Afe was quoted as saying. “We look forward to more exciting times in the market with significant growth in returns for all our stakeholders.”
Seplat Energy is listed on the Premium Board of the Nigerian Exchange Limited and the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange.
