· ‎Seplat Energy has planted 200,000 trees under its Tree4Life Programme, a major climate action milestone.
‎
· ‎The company is targeting one million trees by 2030, with a scale-up planned from 2026.
‎
· ‎More than 350 community members have already been engaged in the reforestation drive.

‎
‎Seplat Energy has deepened its climate action push, recording a major milestone in its Tree4Life Programme with the planting of 200,000 trees, Confiance News has learned.
‎
‎The achievement, confirmed by Confiance News from the company’s disclosures, strengthens Seplat Energy’s ambition to establish one million trees by 2030.

‎
‎Tree4Life is a flagship reforestation and biodiversity conservation initiative that pairs environmental restoration with community development. According to Seplat Energy’s 2025 Social Performance Report, sighted by Confiance News, the programme has set up nurseries holding more than 175,000 seedlings. In addition, it has trained over 300 community members in tree planting, nursery management and sustainable land-use practices.

‎
‎The programme is also delivering economic gains beyond the trees themselves. Documents obtained by Confiance News show that more than 350 community members have been engaged in site preparation, planting operations, nursery management and logistics support. As a result, participating communities have gained income opportunities, while the initiative has also supported capacity building and sustainable agricultural practices. Consequently, local livelihoods are being strengthened alongside conservation efforts.

‎
‎Seplat Energy says its approach rests on close collaboration with host communities and key stakeholders. Through continuous engagement, the company is seeking to build shared ownership of forest protection and environmental stewardship across project locations. In other words, the long-term survival of the trees depends as much on the communities as on the company.
‎
‎𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲
‎
‎Building on this momentum, Seplat Energy plans to scale up Tree4Life from 2026, Confiance News gathered. The move forms part of a wider strategy to restore degraded landscapes, enhance biodiversity and contribute to global efforts to combat climate change.
‎
‎Furthermore, the company intends to sustain phased planting across the project area. It will also strengthen maintenance programmes, survival monitoring and replacement planting to maximise long-term impact.
‎

‎
‎Seplat Energy’s future plans, as confirmed to Confiance News, include expanding environmental and social baseline studies. Moreover, the company will enhance biodiversity monitoring and strengthen the measurement and verification of carbon sequestration outcomes in line with internationally recognised standards. These steps are expected to support the one million tree goal while creating lasting environmental and social value.
‎
‎𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲
‎
‎Ultimately, Tree4Life underscores Seplat Energy’s stated commitment to responsible energy development, environmental sustainability and inclusive growth. The company says the programme shows how climate action can go hand in hand with community empowerment, delivering benefits for present and future generations.
