BOCCIMA DG emerges youngest female ICAN Lagos, District society chairman

The Bonny Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BOCCIMA) received a huge boost in terms of administration, management and strategic networking as its Director General (DG), Mrs. Constance Nwokejiobi emerged the third woman and youngest female Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Lagos and District Society.

Mrs. Nwokejiobi was decorated as Chairman, ICAN Lagos and District Society at ICAN’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Lagos on Thursday, July 2, 2020, by a past Chairman, Mr. Sola Oyetayo, thus heralding a new beginning for the professional bodies involvement in BOCCIMA.

The Lagos and District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) is one of the grassroots arms of the Institute and acts as an interface between the members working or living on Lagos Island, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Lekki, Ajah and Epe.

Mrs. Constance Ngozi Nwokejiobi, who holds a Master’s degree in Finance and Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and holds executive positions at District and National levels of ICAN, has held strategic leadership roles in Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPNU), Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) Plc, and Industry Risks Insurance Brokers and as Coordinator of the ExxonMobil Foundation Programs, Nigeria.

Mrs. Nwokejiobi, who is now the 18th Chairman, the third woman and youngest female Chairman of ICAN Lagos and District Society, was formerly the Country Executive Director for Wright Portfolio Consult Ltd and specializes in assisting organizations to develop and improve their business processes.

The business development expert helps with managing business transformation and key aspects of developing business strategy thus her new position is expected to help deepen the processes and depth of professional and institutional aspects of the Bonny Chamber of Commerce of Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BOCCIMA).

The business development expert is currently the Director General of BOCCIMA , the premier Chamber of commerce in Bonny Kingdom, Rivers State and also sits as the only female on a six man Board of an African Franchise Firm with affiliates across Africa.

In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Nwokejiobi described her elevation as a great honour and opportunity to serve, appealing to her colleagues to avail her and her executive the needed support to move the district forward.

“It is my great honor to witness this day which provides an opportunity for all of us in this 2020/2021 Executive Committee year to offer our service to our Dear Premier District.”

“We will require the support of all members in all capacity necessary to enable us move our District forward. Once more, thank you for your time attending this AGM and cooperation.”

The BOCCIMA DG has passionately developed and implemented several women and youth capacity development programmes in the areas of Health, Education and empowerment initiatives reaching out to more than 10,000 persons across Nigeria through the philanthropic arm of the consult, Wright Portfolio Foundation, a United States based not-for-profit.

Mrs. Constance Nwokejiobi, who is also an Associate of Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), attended several local and foreign conferences, is happily married with four lovely children.

Meanwhile, Mr. Alesta Wilcox was also inaugurated as General Secretary of the district society.

Chairman of the ICAN Body of Past Presidents, Mr. Emmanuel Ijewere, who is also a onetime Chairman of the ICAN Lagos and District Society, was among dignitaries at the event.
