The Nigerian government has began implementation of the ban which it placed on United Arab Emirate’s (UAE’s) Emirate Airline.

Confiance News gathered from the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika on Friday.

The ban which took effect from Monday the 21st of September was in retaliation of the alleged UAE government’s reluctance in renewing visas of Nigerians in Dubai and also rumours of a Visa ban for Nigerians applying for visas.

In a related development, Nigeria is said to be in talks with European Union (EU) envoys to resolve issues surrounding Lufthansa, Air France and KLM ban.

“The PTF subcommittee met today with EU Ambassadors to discuss Lufthansa, Air France/KLM ban. The meeting progressed well. Emirates Airlines’s situation was reviewed & they are consequently included in the list of those not approved, with effect from Monday the 21st Sept 2020,” Sirika stated.

Confiance News recalls that Nigeria began international flight operations on September 5, after placing a ban on all international flights since 23rd of March 2020- a measure employed to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
