Again, Obaseki defeats Ize-Iyamu after swapping political parties twice

Nigeria’s electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has given details of how Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defeated his major rival who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, even in Ize-Iyamu’s Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo state, South south Nigeria.

Declaring Obaseki the winner of the Edo governorship election held on Saturday, September 20, the Edo Election Returning Officer, Prof Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, said PDP polled 307,955 to secured majority votes in the election.

Ize-Iyamu of the APC garnered 223,619 votes to come second.

Ize-Iyamu who hails from Orhionmwon LGA of Edo State was also defeated in his local government area according to data released by INEC.

In the result released by INEC, Obaseki polled 13,445 to beat Ize-Iyamu who scored 10,458 in Orhionmwon LGA.
