The Bankers’ Committee- a committee of bank Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) have said it has unveiled a committee to look into the financing of road infrastructure.

The Committee disclosed this to journalists during the 348th bankers committee meeting held Tuesday in Lagos.

“The Committee has just set-up a sub-committee to look at the modalities and also engage the government,” Director, Banking Supervision, CBN, Mr Bello Hassan disclosed.

He further stated that the structure of the infrastructural financing will be revealed in due course.

Corroborating, the Managing Director (MD), FSDH Merchant Bank, Mrs. Hamda Ambah, said government alone could not provide the infrastructure needed in the country.

She said, “We have created a sub-committee among the CEOs to work with the CBN to identify those roads where we would like to participate and come up with a framework which we would share with government, and once we have an agreement, we would be able to forge ahead.’’

On financial inclusion, Acting MD, Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) Microfinance Bank, Abubakar Abdulahi Kure, stated that it intends to increase its branches to about 120 across the country.
