‎The Awba-Ofemili Development Union (ADU) Health Committee, in partnership with the Nigerian Red Cross Society (Anambra State Branch), the Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ASPHCDA), and the Awba-Ofemili Health Volunteers Team (AHVT), will hold the 2025 Community Health Awareness Campaign on Thursday, October 23, at the Civic Centre, Awba-Ofemili.

‎Confiance News gathered from a statement issued by Ogbuefi (Sir) Remmy Nweke, Chairman of the ADU Health Committee and Convener of the AHVT,

‎The campaign themed “Buruli Ulcer (Elu-Ulee): Know the Signs, Stop the Spread,” the event aims to educate the public about Buruli Ulcer, a neglected tropical skin disease, while promoting early detection and hygiene practices.

‎Nweke described the campaign as “a major step” toward protecting community health through awareness and preventive care. The program will include health talks by medical experts and Red Cross educators, free blood pressure and sugar level screenings, and the donation of First Aid Boxes to local institutions. Additionally, Red Cross chapters will be established in schools, including Community Secondary School, Progressive Primary School, and Central Primary School in Awba-Ofemili.

‎Nweke expressed gratitude to the ASPHCDA, the Nigerian Red Cross Society, and the Office of the ADU President-General for their support. He urged residents, community leaders, and schools to participate in the free health services, emphasizing that “collective awareness and early intervention” can control Buruli Ulcer, preventing disabilities and saving lives.

‎Expected attendees include ASPHCDA officials, Anambra State Ministry of Health representatives, traditional and religious leaders, teachers, students, and health professionals. The ADU Health Committee, a community-driven initiative, continues to advance public health through partnerships and humanitarian efforts.
