‎’Do not cast away your confidence,’ Pastor Adeyinka urges Christians

‎During a powerful Sunday service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Solidrock Parish, Area Pastor Tunji Adeyinka admonished believers not to cast away their confidence in God, emphasizing that it is rooted in His unchanging character and essence.

‎Drawing from Hebrews 10:35-36 (TPT), Pastor Adeyinka declared, “The bible is telling you and I that this thing called confidence is not a commodity. Whatever it is you are going through, do not throw away your confidence.” He defined confidence as being certain about a thing, using the example, “We are confident that around 7.00 p.m. it will be dark.”

‎Pastor Adeyinka contrasted worldly confidence with faith in God, noting, “Politicians are the most confident. Have you noticed that there is no politician that is beaten that agrees that he was beaten. They always believe that they won by a landslide.” However, he stressed, “We have our own confidence in God. The confidence that we have should be based on the character of God. It should be based on the essence of God.”

‎He warned against placing trust in human strength or possessions, stating, “We cannot be confident in man. Man cannot guarantee that you will not die too. Any confidence or trust that is based on what you have is called pride.”

‎Citing biblical examples like Noah and referencing 1 Samuel 13:12-13, the pastor highlighted the cost of maintaining confidence in God. “In some of the choices you are making, you need to be willing to look like a fool,” he said, adding that seeking human validation over God’s approval can lead to spiritual setbacks. “Some of us are desirous of the validation and endorsement of man rather than of God. I pray that God does not withdraw from your case.”

‎Pastor Adeyinka encouraged perseverance, particularly for those awaiting answered prayers. “How God has compensated those that are waiting for the fruit of the womb, God compensates them with two instead of one for their waiting, endurance, and patience,” he said. He urged women not to compromise their standards, saying, “Is it too much for a woman to ask for a man who is responsible? Do not lower your standards.”

‎Referencing Jeremiah 23:29, he reassured the congregation of God’s power to overcome obstacles: “No matter how strong the opposition is, the hammer of the Lord will break them down.” He further emphasized God’s faithfulness, stating, “God is not unfair. Everything that you have lost he will give you back. There’s that compensation and there is the promise that he promised to give you.”

‎Pastor Adeyinka concluded with a reminder of the unseen struggles behind God’s promises, saying, “Some people will see you when you receive the promise, they won’t know how much you waited.” He urged the congregation to remain steadfast, warning, “You can’t do things on your own terms,” and encouraged them to trust in God’s timing for both reward and compensation.
