Inibehe Effiong, the counsel of Chioma Okoli, the woman being sued by Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, over a tomato puree review, has caused a stir on social media with a photo he shared on his official X handle.

Confiance News gathered on Thursday.

The photo which showed a picture of Inibehe Effiong and Chioma Okoli standing in front of the Federal High Court, Abuja (Nigeria’s capital) was accompanied with a post which read,”Due to multiple inquiries, we were with Chioma Okoli at the Federal High Court in Abuja this morning for the charge filed by the Inspector General of Police (the Erisco matter).

The case has been further adjourned to Tuesday, the 28th day of May, 2024.

History will vindicate the just.”

The post was greeted with mixed reactions from X users.

According to an  X user known as Corporate _$olarDad:

“Why is IG filing charges? Is the IG going to prosecute the case himself? In a sane and democratic environment, your IG will be in jail now with Mr Erisco. Blatant abuse of power, lack of jurisdictional responsibility by all involved. I can’t imagine even @elonmusk having the head of a state police arrest someone, the request would be turned down because it’s unconstitutional. 200mil people and are all 200mil of u daft or just educated illiterates?”

Mazi said: “Gosh . She looks like she has lost a lot of weight.”

Reacting to Mazi’s post, Dr. Joy Odimegwu said: “She was pregnant. Now delivered and back to her normal weight. Praying that the trauma of so much up and down will not adversely affect her baby. God does take care of His own.”

Kemi seems to have a divergent view, she said, “She just start. She allowed people who have nothing to lose push her into. Everybody go learn.”

Another X user known, Health is Wealth is Yusfully Obedient, lauded Effiong’s efforts. She said, “Thanks for all you do.
It is well with her🙏🏽,.”

Rita reechoed Inibehe’s slogan, “History will surely vindicate the just.”

Confiance News recalls that in September, 2023, Chioma Okoli bought a Nagiko tomato paste, a product of Erisco Foods Limited after searching for her usual brand which she did not find.

After opening the tomato puree, she was disgusted by the sugary taste of the tomato paste and decided to express her displeasure on her Facebook page, where she said, “went to buy tin tomatoes yesterday that I will use to make stew. I didn’t see Gino and Sonia.

“So, I decided to buy this one. When I opened it, I decided to taste it. Omo! Sugar was just too much. Ha, biko, let me know if you have used this tin tomato before because this is an Ike gwuru situation.”

Her review irked Eric Umeofia, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Erisco Foods Limited, who responded with an arrest and litigation of Chioma Okoli.
