The GTBank 2023 Fashion Weekend is a two-day event that showcases the best of African fashion, culture and creativity. The event, which is organized by Guaranty Trust Bank, one of Africa’s leading financial institutions, aims to promote the growth and development of the African fashion industry, as well as provide a platform for local and international designers, retailers, buyers and enthusiasts to network, learn and shop.

The event, which is in its sixth edition, will take place on November 11th and 12th, 2023, at the GTCO Centre in Lagos, Nigeria. The event will feature runway shows, designer booths, masterclasses, exhibitions and more. The theme of this year’s event is “Africa’s Finest”, which celebrates the diversity, beauty and excellence of African fashion and design.

The runway shows will feature collections from some of Africa’s finest designers, such as Ituen Basi, Sophie Zinga, DNA by Iconic Invanity, and more. The shows will also showcase the latest trends and innovations in digital and wearable fashion, such as Percy Okine’s 3D-printed designs and Diagnosed with Cirqueness’s circus-inspired outfits. The runway shows will be live-streamed on the event’s website and social media platforms, as well as broadcasted on select TV channels.

The designer booths will offer a variety of products and services from hundreds of indigenous small fashion businesses, ranging from clothing, accessories, footwear, jewelry, cosmetics, and more. The booths will also provide an opportunity for the businesses to expand their online presence, reach new markets, and position their brands for the future. The booths will be open to the public and accept various modes of payment, including GTCO’s digital banking solutions.

The masterclasses will feature fashion-leaders and industry experts from around the world, who will share their insights, experiences and tips on various topics related to fashion and business. Some of the speakers include Naomi Campbell, a supermodel and activist; Virgil Abloh, a designer and creative director; Omoyemi Akerele, a fashion entrepreneur and founder of Style House Files; and more. The masterclasses will be interactive and engaging, and will also be available online for those who cannot attend in person.

The exhibitions will showcase the history, evolution and future of African fashion, as well as the impact and influence of African fashion on the global scene. The exhibitions will feature a fashion timeline, a fashion film, a fashion museum, and more. The exhibitions will also highlight the social and environmental aspects of fashion, such as sustainability, inclusivity, and empowerment.

The GTBank 2023 Fashion Weekend is more than just a fashion event. It is a celebration of Africa’s finest, a reimagining of what’s possible, and a statement of fashion as freedom.
