‎How NLNG, NCDMB’s ICT centre and training programme transforms youths‎

‎The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) and the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) have reaffirmed their dedication to fostering human capital development and technological advancement with the completion of two significant initiatives in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The Company told Confiance News in a statement on Thursday.

‎The initiatives included the inauguration of a modernized, fully equipped ICT Centre at Baptist High School and the closing ceremony of a year-long Human Capital Development (HCD) Basic Training Programme aimed at boosting employability and industry-relevant skills for Nigerian youths.

‎Mr. Olugbenga Sheba, General Manager of Institutional Strengthening at NCDMB, representing Executive Secretary Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, described the ICT Centre as a “hub for knowledge, innovation, and opportunity.” He emphasized its role in equipping students with skills in coding, design, and innovation, preparing them for a tech-driven future.

‎“This ICT Centre is more than infrastructure—it’s a testament to our belief that Nigerian students, with the right tools, can become creators, innovators, and entrepreneurs,” Sheba stated. He praised NLNG’s partnership and commitment to Nigerian Content objectives, highlighting the power of collaboration between government and corporate entities in building a stronger Nigeria.

‎Sophia Horsfall, NLNG’s General Manager of External Relations and Sustainable Development, reiterated NLNG’s focus on compliance with Nigerian Content regulations and sustainable community development. “The upgraded ICT Centre at Baptist High School reflects our commitment to empowering communities through education and technology, providing students and teachers with modern tools for quality learning,” she said.

‎The Baptist High School project features a 40-seater ICT Centre, a 20KVA solar and inverter system, renovated classrooms and administrative facilities, digital smart boards, and advanced learning tools.
‎
‎At the HCD Basic Training Programme’s close-out, 30 participants received international certifications in fields such as Engineering, Marine Operations, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), and Entrepreneurship, tailored to the oil and gas industry.
‎
‎These initiatives reflect NLNG and NCDMB’s shared commitment to advancing local capacity, technological inclusion, and Nigeria’s sustainable development through education and skill-building.
