In a gesture celebrating Lagos State’s political stability and governance legacy, Ajagbe Adeyemi Teslim, Publisher of August24news.com, presented a Governance Advisory Council (GAC) Frame to Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, on Friday at his office in Ikeja, Lagos.
Confiance News gathered that the 24×34-inch frame showcases the names, photographs, local governments, and senatorial districts of the 35 distinguished members of the GAC, Lagos State’s highest decision-making political body, established by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) during his tenure as governor. The GAC is widely regarded as a cornerstone of Lagos’ enduring governance model, credited with rebranding political leadership in the state.
The frame lists prominent GAC members, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (Ikeja, Lagos West), Sen. Oluremi Tinubu (Eti-Osa, Lagos Central), Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu (Lagos Island, Lagos Central), Gov. Babatunde Raji Fashola (Surulere, Lagos Central), Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode (Epe, Lagos East), and Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, GAC Chairman (Lagos Island, Lagos Central). Other notable figures include Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila (Surulere, Lagos Central), Sen. Idiat Oluranti Adebule (Ojo, Lagos West), and Alhaji Mutiu Are, GAC Secretary (Lagos Island, Lagos Central), among others.
A tribute segment honors eight late GAC members: Hon. Chief Mrs. Kemi Nelson, Hon. RF Balogun, Ambassador Rasak Demola Seriki, Oba Olatunji Hamzat, Alhaji Safiriyulahi Sumola, Chief Lanre Rasak (KLM), Prof. Tunde Samuel, and Chief Sunny Akinsanya Ajose.
Ajagbe, during the presentation, stated, “The idea of putting the 35 Wise Men and women of the GAC in a large frame is to showcase their UNITY as well as a way of promoting their well-deserved Honour. This will no doubt, encourage other political leaders in our state to be more dedicated in their services to our dear state in particular, the country at large and humanity as a whole.” He added that the frame represents extensive research by August24news.com’s editorial team to promote and rebrand Lagos politics.
Ajagbe announced plans to present similar frames to Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Gov. Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat, state commissioners, federal and state lawmakers, 57 council chairmen, and other key party figures.
Receiving the frame, Speaker Obasa expressed gratitude, saying, “The frame will be well kept in a reserved place in my office and archives for coming generations to know their legends and political leaders.” He called for a minute’s silence to honor the late GAC members and commended Ajagbe and his team for their creative research.
Alhaji Mutiu Are, GAC Secretary, described the GAC as “one of the beauty of Lagos Politics.” Political analyst and Upshot Media Publisher, Mojeed Jamiu, praised the initiative, stating, “GAC members deserve even greater recognition, especially given their immense contribution to good governance in Lagos State.”
Confiance News learnt that the presentation underscores the GAC’s role as a model of governance, rooted in Tinubu’s vision, and its continued influence in shaping Lagos’ political and developmental landscape.
