‎Live in the Light: Deacon Afolayan urges believers to shine amid darkness

‎There is need for believers to let their light shine above darkness. Assistant Pastor (AP) Kayode Afolayan who ministered on the theme “Live in the Light,” urged Christians.

‎Confiance News reports that he cited from Psalm 84:11 and Genesis 1:1–5 to emphasize the spiritual significance of divine illumination in a world marred by darkness.

‎Referencing the creation story, Afolayan noted that while God separated light from darkness, He did not eliminate darkness entirely. “Darkness will always be here,” he said, “but we must not be overly conscious of it.” He urged believers to focus instead on the light within—God’s presence and His word.

‎Drawing from 1 John 1:5, the minister reminded the congregation that God is light, and His children are carriers of that light. “This light isn’t just about day and night,” he explained. “It’s spiritual. It’s the life of Christ in us.”

‎Afolayan warned of the subtle dangers of spiritual darkness, which can operate even in broad daylight. He cited examples from scripture, including the monitoring of Jesus’ star and the conspiracies against Him, to illustrate how believers are often tracked and opposed. “Don’t cringe when you see darkness,” he said. “Let your light respond.”

‎He stressed that the only way to insulate oneself from darkness is to live out the light of God, nourished by His word. “Be mindful of what you hear,” he cautioned. “There is the word of God, and there is also the word of Satan.”

‎In closing, Afolayan challenged listeners to examine the source of their inner light. “If the light in you is darkness,” he warned, “then something is wrong.” He urged believers to pray for their light to shine and to live boldly in the truth of God’s word.
