Nigeria’s government bows to pressure, releases Sowore, Dasuki

The Nigerian government finally gave in to the clarion call to release Omoyele Sowore, convener of #revolutionnow movement and Sambo Dasuki, a retired Nigerian Army Colonel and former National Security Adviser (NSA) to the former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

They were released on Tuesday evening, December 24, 2019, following an order to the Department of State Services by Nigeria’s Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), for his freedom.

Bashir Ahmad, Personal Assistant to the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, on New Media tweeted on his Twitter feed- @BashirAmaad, on Tuesday.

“The Federal Government has directed the release of former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki (rtd) and Mr. Omoyele Sowore of Sahara Reporters, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, SAN, signed,” Ahmad tweeted.

Confiance News also gathered from the press statement issued by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, that the duo are expected to abide by the terms of the bail whiles it explores its rights of appeal with regards to the order of the bail.

“My office has chosen to comply with court orders while considering the pursuit of its rights of appeal and/ or review of the order relating to the bail as granted or varied by the courts,” Malami disclosed in the statement.
