Nigeria’s  government has presented a certificate of registration to the Congress of Nigerian University Academics (CONUA), a faction body of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Confiance News gathered from Twitter on Tuesday.

Also described as a separate body of academic unions, CONUA has presence in a few federal universities, is led by a National Coordinator named Niyi Sunmonu, a lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.

Confiance News recalls that the Minster of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, resorted to the formal recognition of CONUA after failed negotiations with ASUU to call off the on-going strike which has been on since February 14, 2022.
