NSE shaves 0.68 per cent on sustained profit taking

The NSE All-Share index shed 0.68 per cent from the 38,928.02 basis points(bps) it recorded at the weekend to settle at 38,664.15 bps.
Similarly, Market Capitalisation dipped 0.68 per cent to close at N14.01 trillion.
Sustained profit taking, analysts say, is responsible for the negative trend.
This trend was also witnessed on the laggards’ table where it was pervaded by a total of 34 equities.
Prestige Insurance led the price decliners’ chart after shaving 4 kobo or 6.25 per cent from its 64 kobo opening price to settle at 60 kobo.

Union Diagonostics and Clinical Services Plc. shed 2 kobo or 5 per cent to close at 38 kobo even as Flour Mills Nigeria Plc. suffered a N1.60 or 4.89 per cent loss to close at N31.15.

On the other hand, International Breweries led other share price gainers, adding N2.70 or 6.54 per cent to its N41.30 opening price to close at N44.

Japaul Oil and Maritime Services gained 2 kobo or 5.26 per cent more to close at N40; a rally the stock has been enjoying for the past two weeks just as C&I Leasing chalked 9 kobo or 5.20 per cent.
In all, a total of 12 equities, which are mostly mid-cap and penny stocks, occupied the gainers’ table.
Furthermore, transactions on the Nigerian bourse amounted to a total of 390.47 million shares traded for N6.12 billion.
