True repentance is never late but late repentance is seldom true.

Confiance News gathered from a sermon delivered by the Provincial Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Solidrock Parish, Pastor Bola Odutola on Easter Sunday.

Taking his text from the book of Luke 23:39, he stated that the thief on the left hand the same privilege as the thief on the right hand with respect to repentance but he blew it.

Explaining the term: “True repentance is never late but late repentance is seldom true.” he said,” It is true that a man can repent late but that you are repenting as a matter of urgency may not really be true.”

He added that if a man at the point of death, begins to scream, “Lord have mercy on me, Lord have mercy on me, Lord have mercy on me and he dies. That repentance may not really be true.”

Citing the book of Deuteronomy 30:19 in the bible, he said , “I have set before you life and death. Your Christian race is not a walk in the park. It comes with challenges.”

He recounted how Moses in the scriptures forfeited the luxuries and splendour of the palace in Egypt just serve God.

Odutola frowned at the attitude of the thief on the left hand because refused to repent even when it was served on a platter.

“He was looking at God and divinity and he refused to accept Christ,” he said.

The Provincial Pastor noted that the biggest take away of the death of Christ is repentance.

“Sin is not just what you have done it is also what you have left undone,” he said.
