Nigerians have reacted to the notice issued by the Lagos State government denying the demolition of the POWA Complex in Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria.
Confiance News learnt from the comment section of the official X handle of the Lagos State government.
Reacting a X user, That Naija Guy said, “What then is the function of govt if anyone can simply wake up by 12:30am move the computer village wgeb people are on holidays and begin to demolish shops owned by young entreprizing Nigerians? And you simply come here to do damage control. Tueeh.
Corroborating, Udinwenyi NFts said, “Because you are the owner of a plaza you just wake up and start destroying everything and the only thing the government has to say is that we’re not the owners 😂Nigeria is a joke to the handler of this account you no do well 💔.”
Oladimeji Olamilekan replying said, “Are you being deliberately mischievous or you’re just unaware??? This case as been on for many years now. You cannot be in that market and claim to be unaware of the demolition, how is Nigeria a joke in the case of rightful owner trying to rebuild their property?? Smh 🙄.”
Confiance News gathered that on the eve of New Year, the Lagos State Taskforce demolished the shops after serving the tenants a 24 hours notice to quit.
Although the Lagos State Government denied it in a notice posted on its official X handle, Nigerians still wonder if the state taskforce is independent of the government or part of the government.
Below is excerpt of the notice signed by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso:
LAGOS HAS NO HAND IN DEMOLITION OF POWA COMPLEX
Lagos State Government has nothing to do with the demolition at Computer Village in Ikeja. The structure is owned by the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), which ordered its demolition.
Those circulating the fake news that Lagos State Government is demolishing Computer Village are opportunistic ethnic chauvinists who will always relish in vacuous propaganda that can fuel their fiendish mission; they will always fail in dividing Lagosians.
