The satisfaction you get because of who you have and not what you have is contentment.

Pastor Cephas Afebuameh, of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Solidrock Parish, explained on Sunday.

Taking his text from the book of 1Timothy 6:6, he said:”The only great gain is godliness and contentment.”

Confiance News gathered that the one who has everything is God and having him is having everything.

He said:”Who you have has everything; because you have who has everything.”

The pastor advised christians to be steadfast in trusting God.

“The only profitable way is godliness and contentment. What does it mean to be godly? You’re doing things the way God is pleased with you. You cannot afford to go after it the way of the world. God will show up,” he stated.

Pastor Afebuameh noted that God will not pardon ungodliness.

Citing the book of Hebrews 13:5, he noted that God will surely show up when you exhibit contentment and remain steadfast in him.

“Not all that prays are living right.
There’s nothing pushing you to ungodliness that God can excuse. Seek Him, remain godly and he will fix everything,” the pastor said.

When it’s not contentment?

Confiance News learnt that human want is insatiable but with contentment, it can be curtailed.

“You can have all you desire and still want more,” Pastor Afebuameh said.

“If what is driving you to the action you’re taking is flesh, it means it’s not contentment.
What several do, and they’re christians, you cannot reconcile,” he continued.

“For that deal to click, you know what you clicked,” the pastor added.

Steps to attaining godliness and contentment

Pastor Afebuameh noted added that the first step to attaining godliness and contentment is to be born again.

“How can you be godly when you are godless; you need to give your life to Christ,” he retorted.

Depend on God fully and be prayerful.

See God first in everything you do.

Avoid the pressure of what is in vogue.

“There’s nothing God has given to you that there’s no better version of it. If you’re running your life by what is in vogue, you will not last long,” he admonished.

Live a simple lifestyle.

Pastor Afebuameh said: “You can be simple by how you twist your tongue. Focus your life on heaven. Does heaven approve of it? Is this God’s version of it?”
