One of the newly released comedy by Netflix has sparked heated criticism from the former Aviation Minster under the President Olusegun Obasanjo administration, Femi Fani-Kayode, for depicting “Jesus Christ” as gay in the movie called “The first temptation of Christ”.

Netflix, according to Wikipedia, is a $15.79 billion worth American media-services provider and production company headquartered in Los Gatos, California, founded in 1997 by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph in Scotts Valley, California.

Independent UK, however, reports that The First Temptation of Christ was made by a YouTube comedy group and was released by Netflix in Brazil on 3 December. In the one-off show, it is implied that Jesus is in a sexual relationship with his male friend Orlando.

Reacting, he tweeted via his Twitter feed- @realFFk, “The film “Gay Jesus” which is being aired on @netflix is an insult to our faith and to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. I condemn Netflix for airing this blasphemous evil and I believe that those that produced and acted in it should be declared childen of satan and heretics.”

Corroborating, Reno Omokri, former President Goodluck Jonathan’s aide also frowned at the content of the film.

“If @Netflix releases the the gay Jesus film, I urge all #RenosNuggeteers around the world to delete the Netflix app and cancel their subscription. If you fail to do this, you cant claim to love Christ, His Father, or me, their servant.

“The other day, a misguided woman used Scripture as an ashtray. Now, @Netflix announces a film about a gay Jesus. Would they do that to the Quran? Do NOT take advantage of Christian’s tolerance. We choose non-violence. Not that we can’t be violent!,” He tweeted on his Twitter feed- @renoomokri.

Apart from Fani-Kayode and Omokri, other Twitter users have taken to the social media to express their displeasure over the movie.

About 3,821 people ( as at the time of publication) have signed the petition with Change.org requesting Netflix to stop showing the movie.

Change.org, according to Wikipedia, is a petition website operated by for-profit Change.org, Inc., an American certified B corporation which claims to have over 240 million users and hosts sponsored campaigns for organizations. The company is headquartered in San Francisco, California.

Jesus Christ, according to biblical account, is the son of God and saviour of the world, reason Christians regard the gay Jesus theme of the movie making rounds as heresy.
