It is a sin and a crime to forget God. Without him you cannot function.

The Provincial Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Solidrock Parish, Bola Odutola, made this known during a sermon witnessed by Confiance News on Sunday.

“There’s one thing about man, they think that when everything is going smoothly nothing can go wrong. It is not true. Something can go wrong. God asked Job a question. Must you query me so that you must be justified. Are you an animal,” Odutola pointed.

Taking his text from the book of Job 39:16-17 from the scriptures, he said that God withheld understanding from the animals for the benefit of man.

“Deliberately, God deprived all animals understanding and wisdom because of you. If God were to restore the understanding of animals, there will be chaos,” he noted.

The clergyman stated that it is crucial to pray at all times mostly when situations are palatable because there is a hunter seeking for who to bring down.

Citing examples from the bible in the book of Luke 12:16-19, Odutola spoke of a rich man who was blessed with good harvest and planned to build bigger barns, so that he would eat, drink and make merry for many years but he failed to acknowledge God and his life was taken from (he died).

Expatiating, Odutola said, “The only thing that was wrong was what was omitted—he did not include God in the equation.”

Digging further into the scriptures in the book of Ecclesiastics 7:14, the provincial pastor added,”There’s a way that prosperity can happen you will be so confident that nothing will happen.”

He pointed that man is an arrogant entity when things are fine.

Citing the book of Deuteronomy 8:11-19. “It is a sin and a crime to forget God. You see hungry men, they pray to God.”

Acknowledging the God factor

On a daily basis you must pray.

Quoting an older minister of the gospel, he said, “My son, you must pray, so that you don’t pray (preventive prayers).”

Odutola noted that under contrary and adverse conditions, men are worst than women.

“Don’t let God force you to do bible study in LASUTH (Lagos State University Teaching Hospital).

“Don’t wait for something (evil) to happen before you begin to look for all the names of God.

Sirs, God can finish a man casually in one day.

When you go and meet pastor’s to pray and we pray, it is God that knows the one to answer.

“Some of the sins we are not committing now is not because we are righteous, it is because we don’t have enough money to fund it.

“Your own bible knowledge is not for you to do mischief, that is why the Lord added that phrase ‘rightly dividing’ God knows that that the sons of men can divide it wrongly (2Timothy 2:15).

“Careful men and women, when they thread they suspect ambush.

“Anything can go wrong. This element about talking about tomorrow as if nothing will happen.

“Sirs (and Mas), for the rest of your days, always pray that the God factor must always be in your calculation.

“God is unseen but his acts are seen,” he explained.
