Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to digital transformation during a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy in Abuja on Saturday. Meeting with Honourable Minister Dr. Bosun Tijani, the governor discussed strategies to enhance Katsina’s collaboration with the Federal Government on broadband expansion, ICT training, and digital infrastructure development.

Confiance News gathered from a tweet made by the governor.

Governor Radda highlighted Katsina’s progress in leveraging technology for governance and economic growth. Key achievements include the establishment of an ICT Directorate, workforce training initiatives, and the adoption of e-Governance systems, including the Treasury Single Account (TSA) for improved financial transparency. The state has also supported young innovators, particularly those showcased at this year’s Arewa Tech Festival in Katsina, as part of its push to nurture a digital economy.

Dr. Tijani praised Katsina’s efforts, describing the state as a pacesetter in ICT development. He assured the governor of the Federal Government’s continued support, promising increased investments in digital infrastructure and ICT projects to bolster Katsina’s ambitions. “Katsina’s strides in technology are commendable, and we are committed to partnering with the state to drive digital inclusion,” Tijani said.

The visit underscores Katsina’s goal of becoming a leading hub for digital innovation in Northern Nigeria. By prioritizing technology, the state aims to enhance governance, create jobs, and empower its youth. The Arewa Tech Festival, for instance, has emerged as a key platform for identifying and supporting young tech talent, positioning Katsina as a breeding ground for innovation.

Expressing gratitude for the Minister’s warm reception, Governor Radda emphasized the importance of federal-state collaboration in achieving Katsina’s digital vision. “With partnerships like this, we are on track to build a Katsina that thrives on technology and innovation,” he stated.

This collaboration signals a bright future for Katsina’s digital agenda, with potential to transform the state into a model for technology-driven development in Nigeria. As the state continues to invest in digital infrastructure and skills, it is poised to unlock new opportunities for economic growth and inclusive governance.
