‎The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has congratulated Nigerian workers on the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, commending their resilience and contributions to national development while reaffirming the Tinubu administration’s commitment to worker welfare.

‎In a statement issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda described Nigerian workers across all sectors as the backbone of national progress, praising their endurance amid the country’s ongoing economic transition.

‎Yilwatda assured workers that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains deeply committed to policies that prioritize the welfare, dignity, and prosperity of the Nigerian workforce.

‎”The President remains a worker-friendly leader who understands the central role of labour in nation-building,” the statement read.

‎Reforms Necessary for Long-Term Growth

‎The APC chairman defended the administration’s sweeping economic reforms, describing them as critical and inevitable steps toward repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth.

‎He identified key policy measures driving the reform agenda, including the removal of the fuel subsidy, unification of the foreign exchange system, increased infrastructure investment, expansion of social intervention programmes, and a renewed push for industrialization.

‎According to Yilwatda, these measures are designed to stimulate productivity, attract local and foreign investment, stabilize the economy, and expand opportunities for employment and wealth creation.

‎Government Promises Relief Amid Short-Term Hardship

‎While acknowledging that the reforms come with short-term difficulties, the APC chairman said the government is implementing targeted interventions to cushion the impact and ensure that reform gains are broadly shared.
