First Bank of Nigeria has refuted news making the rounds of the shutdown of its branches in the south east.

It informed Confiance News in a statement on Wednesday.

“This is to inform the public that our South East branches are fully open for business. Please disregard any news making the rounds that is contrary to this,” the bank disclosed.

Confiance News recalls that southeastern states were ordered by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to ‘sit-at-home’ on the 31st of May, 2021 to commemorate the anniversary of the Biafra Rememberance Day. An order which was complied to by most southeastern states according to unconfirmed sources from Twitter.
