COVID-19: Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele arrested for violating lockdown order

The Lagos State Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, told journalists that the actress had been taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba for violating the restriction order instituted by the government as a way of containing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Confiance News gathered from Twitter that the arrest is coming hours after popular Nollywood actress, producer and brand ambassador, held a birthday party in honour of her husband Abdulrasheed Bello aka JJC Skillz, on Saturday.

A move that elicited heated reactions on social media particularly Twitter as Nigerians strongly condemned he actions since she has been seen on TV representing the dettol brand in enlightening the public against the spread of the coronavirus.

He said, “Yes, we have (arrested) Funke Akindele Bello and we are looking for the others. She has been taken to SCID.”

Confiance News learnt that the policemen arrived Amen Estate off Lekki-Epe Expressway, which is the residence of the actress in about three patrol vehicles.

Akindele, popularly known as Jenifa, is married to singer, Abdulrasheed Bello.
