To become influential your life must carry light.

Confiance News gathered from the Senior Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Solid Rock parish in Lagos State, Pastor Bola Odutola, in one his sermons on Sunday.

Citing 2 Samuel 21:17 as his text, he pointed the importance of influence in the battle between the people of Isreal and the Philistines.

He noted that David was a man of influence because he was a carrier of light.

He added that light is a major ingredient for being influential.

“To carry influence, you must carry light,” he stressed.

He further enjoined christians to ensure that their light shines to the world, while citing Matthew 5:14 to buttress his point.

The Senior Pastor, however, pointed that to be a carrier of light christians must strive to win the war within.

He added that wining the war within entails deliberate and consistent purification of the heart, by suppressing sinful thoughts.

“Anytime you sin and you’re not seen you sink; Light is dimming,” he noted.

He added that a soul that carries light disables the devil.

Odutola, while citing Matthew 5:8, stated that purity of heart is not a vain exercise. It has its reward.

“Until you have a pure heart, you will not see anything,” he said.

The clergy added that all the battle between satan and God is that your soul does not carry light.

He said, “What will kill the candle is not external; it is internal.”

He disclosed that Job in the bible is a perfect example of righteousness, wealth and influence.

According to him, a man can be righteous, wealthy and influential; adding that it is not true that a man must be sinful to achieve that feat.

Concluding, he said, “Don’t ever brag about your morals until you have enough money to finance your temptation. If you have money and you refuse to finance it, you have won. There’s a lot hidden in poverty.”
