“I wanted to use baby to deceive my husband”– shocking confessions of woman who stole friend’s baby

A housewife, Falilat Olatunji is currently in Police custoday awaiting her day in court for allegedly stealing her friend’s four months old baby and presented the baby to her husband as theirs.

The suspect said to be residing at 23, Jawando Street, Ayobo, Lagos allegedly committed the offence at Abeokuta in Ogun State.

According to the Ogun State Police report, the supect went into her friend’s room at Iyana Kajola in Mile 2 area and stole a four month old baby boy.

Ironically, the baby belongs to a friend who had earlier accommodated the suspect and also witnessed the christening of the baby boy.

A statement by the Ogun State Command’s Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi gave graphic description of the incident.

According to the statement, one Taiwo Bello, the baby’s mother, left the baby (name withheld) in the room while she went to the back of the house to wash some clothes. After her chores, she was shocked to discover the disappearance of the baby and raised an alarm.

The rescue efforts led to the lodging of complaint at Sabo-Ilupeju Police Division in Abeokuta.

Police intervention led to the arrest of the suspect at Ilewo-Orile with the baby and was promptly arrested on Wednesday, October 30, 2019.

According to the Police Spokeperson, the suspect made a confessional statement, “On interrogation, the suspect, who resides at No. 23, Jawando Street, Ayobo, Lagos, confessed stealing the baby but claimed that she only wanted to use the baby to deceive her husband, whom she had earlier informed that she got pregnant for, as the product of the pregnancy”, she said.

The baby has since been handed over to his parent.
