Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, expresses deep gratitude for his election as Vice Chair of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Council for 2025, marking Nigeria’s first leadership role in the council in nearly 50 years.

He extends thanks to the ITU leadership and Member States for their trust and looks forward to collaborating with Council Chair Ms. Cristiana Flutur and other members to promote inclusive digital development.

At a critical time for global cooperation, Confiance News learns, Tijani aims to drive progress in resilient infrastructure, digital literacy, cybersecurity, and trusted digital public infrastructure to empower communities worldwide.

He acknowledges President Bola Tinubu’s endorsement, which supported his election.

Tijani sees this role as a chance to amplify Nigeria’s voice globally while aligning with the ITU’s mission of universal connectivity. Under Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda, he will focus on expanding connectivity in underserved areas and equipping young Nigerians with digital skills to ensure no one is left behind in the digital era.
