The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited launched a three-month Advanced Nigerian Content Human Capital Development (NC-HCD) Programme for 140 trainees in Port Harcourt, supporting the $5 billion NLNG Train 7 Project on Bonny Island, Rivers State.

Confiance News reports from a statement issued by NCDMB on Saturday.

The trainees, graduates from various disciplines, completed a 12-month Basic Training Programme in oil and gas skills and will now undertake hands-on roles in Turn Around Maintenance (TAM), Commissioning, and Desktop Programmes. In November 2024, Batch A (331 trainees) started training in facility management, engineering, ICT, HSE, quality control, and welding, while Batch B (77 trainees) focused on data analytics and supply chain management.

NCDMB’s Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, represented by Mrs. Tarilate Teide-Bribena, called the programme a commitment to building world-class Nigerian professionals. He noted that over 400 Nigerians have gained industry-aligned skills, with this phase providing real-time experience at NLNG’s Bonny Island plants. Ogbe commended NLNG’s leadership in capacity building and the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN) for aligning training with industry needs, ensuring employability.

NLNG’s General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, Dr. Sophia Horsfall, thanked NCDMB for the collaboration, emphasizing NLNG’s dedication to a skilled workforce. With the Train 7 Project, initiated in December 2019, at 80% completion, she highlighted the need for skilled manpower. Trainees will work within NLNG’s Bonny Island facilities during the on-the-job training.

NLNG’s Nigerian Content Manager, Engr. Dagogo Buowari, expressed confidence in the partnership’s industry impact and advised trainees to stay focused as they begin their programme on June 16, 2025.
