Netizens have condemned the alleged decision of the Lagos State government to demolish $200 million Landmark Resort.

According to an interview conducted by Stephen Ndukwe, a filmmaker and curator, Landmark Resort is $200 million investment, which accommodates over 80 businesses and annually hosts approximately 3 million visitors, including tourists and members of the diaspora.

The Landmark ecosystem employ 4000 Nigerians directly and indirectly supports 12,000 jobs, Landmark is a significant contributor to the local economy.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Landmark Beach Resorts, Paul Onwuanibe, has appealed to the Lagos State Government (LASG) to consider rerouting only 1.5km of the 700km coastal highway currently under construction to avoid the destruction of the $200 million Landmark Resort, a piece of land he acquired in 2007.
Confiance News gathered that the reason for the demolition is the construction of the Lagos-Calabar coastal road.

According to Steven Ndukwu: “It’s pure wickedness if the Lagos state authorities proceed with demolishing the landmark beach VI without exploring other route to solve this issue.”
Another X user, Tamarako reacting to Ndukwu’s post, said: “I remember watching the video you did in landmark , recall him saying he left an already built fortune in Europe just to invest in Africa , the money he spent rejuvenating the Atlantic and all , I remember him saying landmark is priceless to him, so sad this is happening.”
Reacting, Bigwig Austin said: “Absolute hogwash…isn’t there a way to go round the beach?”
Xerxes D Great $BEYOND added: “My question is: isn’t there a Lagos master plan? One that details it’s Urban and Regional plans so projects like this can be avoided at the stage of feasibility study.”
“Steve you know that Coastal High way nah lie. They just want him to open up shareholding of that company & maybe he’s refusing to do so. So Sanwo-Olu wants to shake him a little bit. There is no way on earth a Coastal Highway can pass thru that location, we are not DAFT,” Andrew Pasadina reacted furiously.
EUC said, “Sometimes I wonder what is wrong with the Nigerian government.
They want to destroy an investment that attracts 20,000 weekly and pays up to 2500 salary.
I wonder oo.”
According to #Lagbaja Cillsoul,”How many people will use the coastal road vs how many people visit the beach every week? How did they think demolishing it will be a better economic decision?”
Reacting, Michael Onodugo Nwaeke explained: “But coastal areas belongs to federal government not Lagos state government. They should talk to minister of works and the coastal roads are been constructed by federal government not state.”

Is a big precedent they are about to make. It’s been going on for a while now. Imagine woke woke up one morning and decided- To pull a whole investment to the ground on no reliable basics.
