Nigeria’s 2026 DigitalSENSE Forum pushes for Digital Inclusion

‎ITREALMS Media has officially announced the 2026 edition of the Nigeria DigitalSENSE Forum (NDSF), a flagship annual event focused on advancing internet governance for development in the country.

‎Confiance News gathered that the forum is scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the Welcome Centre Hotels in Ikeja, Lagos. This year’s theme is “Sustaining WSIS Vision with Multistakeholder Synergy in Nigeria.”

‎The chosen theme aligns closely with the recent United Nations General Assembly Resolution A/RES/80/173, which reaffirms the core objectives of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). The 2026 gathering will concentrate on connecting all citizens, making digital technologies affordable, and driving greater investment in Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) to help close the growing digital divide.

‎Ogbuefi Remmy Nweke, Group Executive Editor and Lead Consulting Strategist at ITREALMS Media, stressed the importance of joint action. “Building an inclusive, open, and secure digital space remains paramount,” he said. “Beyond connectivity, we must ensure that our digital ecosystem protects children online and remains resilient against global threats. The 2026 NDSF will serve as a catalyst for the multistakeholder synergy required to achieve these goals.”

‎The event, Confiance News reports, will include in-depth sessions on emerging technologies such as IPv6 adoption, Domain Name System (DNS) security, and the continued development of Digital Public Infrastructure. A strong focus will be placed on child online protection, with discussions on practical strategies to create a safer internet environment for young users. Participants will also examine how telecommunications and satellite technologies can accelerate Nigeria’s “Smart Nigeria” ambitions.

‎The forum continues its established collaboration with major national institutions, including the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), NITDA, and the Association of Licensed Telecom Operators of Nigeria (ALTON). A keynote address titled “Sustaining the WSIS Vision via Telecoms: Driving Multistakeholder Synergy for Nigeria’s Future” is expected from senior leadership of the country’s top regulatory bodies.

‎Since its launch, the Nigeria DigitalSENSE Forum—organised by DigitalSENSE Africa, an ICANN-certified At-Large Structure—has played a leading role in encouraging informed public conversation about the business and technological advantages of stronger internet governance.

‎Organisers have invited members of the press, ICT sector stakeholders, and the general public to attend this important event and help shape the direction of Nigeria’s digital sovereignty and future.
