Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has been honoured for the third time as the Most Compliant Taxpayer in corporate Nigeria by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

The prestigious award was presented during the FIRS Day at the 2025 Lagos International Trade Fair, organised by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).

This latest recognition marks the second consecutive year NLNG has clinched the top honour, having won the same award in 2024. The company was previously named the Most Supportive Taxpayer in 2021 for its significant contribution to helping FIRS surpass its revenue targets.

Confiance News gathered that the FIRS Compliant Taxpayer Award and Recognition Programme celebrates organisations that consistently demonstrate excellence in meeting tax obligations, transparency, and timely remittances.

In a statement, the FIRS commended NLNG for setting a high standard in tax compliance, describing the company as a benchmark for corporate responsibility that significantly supports national revenue generation and economic growth.

Receiving the award on behalf of NLNG were Anne-Marie Palmer-Ikuku, Manager, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs; Ibukun Oni, Head of Tax Planning and Strategy; and Iwokiri Aprioku, Head of Public Relations.

Reacting to the honour, NLNG’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Philip Mshelbila, said the award reflects the company’s deep-rooted culture of accountability and fiscal discipline.

“This recognition from the Federal Inland Revenue Service is deeply appreciated. It is a testament to the dedication of our Board, management, and employees who uphold the highest standards of compliance and integrity,” Mshelbila said.

He added: “Paying our fair share of taxes is fundamental to our values. We remain committed to practices that drive sustainable national development as we continue our journey to becoming a truly global LNG company.”

NLNG, a joint venture between the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), Shell, TotalEnergies, and Eni, continues to play a pivotal role in Nigeria’s economy through responsible operations and substantial contributions to government revenue.
