‎The launch of the NIPOST Agro Infrastructure and Logistics Initiative (NALI) sparked a notable exchange on X between @akintollgate and @tola_odeyemi, the Postmaster General and CEO of NIPOST. This dialogue highlights the power of social media in fostering constructive feedback and transparent communication between public officials and citizens.

‎According to the post reviewed by Confiance News, @akintollgate, in a detailed critique, expressed disappointment with @tola_odeyemi’s initial announcement of NALI, which he felt focused too much on “vote of thanks” rather than outlining specific solutions to Nigeria’s agro-logistics challenges.

‎He posed pointed questions about the initiative’s scope, asking whether NALI would address issues like exemptions from local government taxes for logistics companies, partnerships with the Railway Corporation for cost-effective cargo transport, or the creation of warehousing hubs to reduce post-harvest losses. He also inquired about the potential for a digital marketplace to connect wholesalers with farmers in real time, leveraging NIPOST’s infrastructure.

‎Rather than dismissing the critique, @tola_odeyemi responded with a comprehensive and well-structured reply, directly addressing @akintollgate’s concerns. She outlined NALI’s four key pillars, demonstrating that the initiative was designed to tackle the very gaps he highlighted.

‎First, she confirmed ongoing engagements with authorities to streamline permits and reduce taxation barriers for logistics operators, easing the movement of agricultural produce.

‎Again, she revealed discussions with the Railway Corporation and cargo airlines to introduce affordable, high-volume transport options, enhancing access to regional markets.

‎Confiance News also learnt that, she detailed plans for public-private partnership (PPP) warehousing hubs at NIPOST locations to extend the shelf life of perishable goods and improve logistics efficiency.

‎Moreover, she confirmed the development of an online marketplace integrated with NIPOST’s infrastructure, enabling real-time connections between wholesalers, farmers, and logistics providers.

‎This exchange underscores the potential of platforms like X to drive accountability and transparency. @akintollgate’s probing questions pushed for clarity, while @tola_odeyemi’s response demonstrated NIPOST’s commitment to addressing systemic issues in Nigeria’s agro-logistics sector. NALI’s vision, as articulated, aims to reduce waste, boost farmer incomes, and strengthen the food supply chain—a critical step for Nigeria’s agricultural transformation.

‎The interaction also highlights the evolving role of public officials in engaging directly with citizens. By addressing specific concerns with actionable details, @tola_odeyemi not only clarified NALI’s objectives but also set a precedent for responsive governance. As NALI progresses, such dialogues will be crucial in ensuring the initiative meets the needs of farmers, logistics providers, and the broader economy.
