‎Nigeria LNG (NLNG) is embracing artificial intelligence (AI) to transform its operations, enhance efficiency, and advance its sustainability goals, as highlighted at the Gastech 2025 Conference in Milan.

‎NLNG told Confiance News in a statement on Thursday.

‎Speaking during a panel session titled “Operational Excellence through the Application of Artificial Intelligence Technologies,” NLNG’s Deputy Managing Director, Olakunle Osobu, outlined the company’s strategic integration of AI across its value chain.

‎“Artificial intelligence is no longer a concept of tomorrow; it is today’s driver of efficiency, reliability, and sustainability in the energy sector. At NLNG, we’re embedding AI across our value chain to ensure our business is future-ready. Importantly, our ‘Goal Zero’ safety policy and operational efficiency targets are being significantly enhanced by AI. This has led to the improvement of our safety and business performance across the company’s entire value chain,” Osobu said.

‎Osobu emphasized AI’s critical role in managing complex processes, supporting NLNG’s culture of continuous improvement. He highlighted the use of virtual reality tools and AI agents to accelerate staff onboarding and knowledge retention, while smart cameras and satellite technologies enable precise monitoring of operations and safety compliance.

‎“Process automation and predictive maintenance tools are enabling production and enhancing asset reliability, while AI-driven optimisation is strengthening emissions monitoring to support NLNG’s energy transition commitments,” Osobu added, noting that integrating AI into existing platforms is essential for predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance strategies to ensure peak plant performance.

‎Confiance News
learns that NLNG’s value-first approach includes upskilling staff through its Centre of Excellence to align AI with business needs. The company’s participation at Gastech 2025 underscores its leadership in driving innovation and technology adoption, aligning with global efforts for cleaner, more sustainable energy solutions. NLNG remains committed to its vision of being “a globally competitive energy company, improving lives sustainably.”
