The newly sworn in United States President, Joe Biden, has swung into action as he signed first phase executive order to reverse former President Donald Trump’s policies on the coronavirus pandemic, immigration, and climate change.

Biden canceled the ban which restricted travel to the U.S from countries like Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Yemen, Chad, North Korea, Venezuela, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Nigeria, Sudan, and Tanzania.

The president rolled out 15 orders and two other action items at the Oval Office’s Resolute Desk,

He made mask wearing in all federal buildings and during interstate travel mandatory.

Biden told reporters that “It’s requiring, as I said all along, where I have authority, mandating masks be worn, social distancing be kept on federal property.

He also signed orders for America to formally rejoin the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Paris climate agreement.

Biden is stopping Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s actions that cause family separation.

He has halted construction of the wall along the U.S-Mexico border.

Two orders aim to provide immediate financial relief to the millions of Americans who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic.

Biden signed another three to address racial disparities and inequities within the U.S government and its operations as well as order that borders on federal workplace sex discrimination protections to LGBTQ Americans.

Meanwhile, the president told newsmen that the letter his predecessor Donald Trump left him before leaving the White House on Wednesday was “very generous”.

The Democrat said he would not immediately reveal the contents out of respect for Trump.

“The President wrote a very generous letter. Because it was private, I will not talk about it until I talk to him, but it was generous,” he stated.

Biden took over office as the 46th U.S President on Wednesday, a ceremony Trump did not attend against the tradition that has been observed in the past.
