Three years into office, Governor Alex Otti is reshaping Abia State’s power landscape, and the private sector is taking notice.
Confiance News gathered from a statement issued by Emele Onu on Friday.
According to the statement, Kayz Consortium Ltd., a manufacturer and supplier of electric meters and power transformers, has praised Governor Alex Otti and his Deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, for delivering measurable economic and infrastructure gains in their first three years in office.
In a goodwill message signed by its Chief Executive Officer, Prince Kalu Ikpemini, the company credited the Otti administration with creating a more enabling business environment that has empowered private enterprises to grow and innovate.
”Your administration’s deliberate efforts in creating a more enabling and business-friendly environment are already yielding tangible results, empowering enterprises like ours to grow, innovate and contribute meaningfully to the state’s economy,” Ikpemini stated.
Otti’s Power Reform Strategy Draws Private Investment
Since taking office in May 2023, Governor Otti has made electricity supply a core infrastructure priority. Rather than depending on the national grid, his administration has leveraged the 2023 Electricity Act to take direct control of Abia’s electricity market. The strategy targets private sector participation in mini-grid projects, metering, renewable energy, and gas power to diversify supply and achieve long-term sustainability.
Kayz Consortium, Confiance News reports, sits at the centre of this strategy. With manufacturing facilities in Ghana, Asokoro, Abuja, and Aba, Abia State, the company is an active partner in Abia’s public-private power initiative. It holds an agreement with Geometric Power Group, in which the state government is a shareholder, to meter every household across the nine local government areas covered by the Aba Integrated Power Project ring-fence.
Ikpemini described the administration’s trajectory as encouraging, saying the management and staff of Kayz Consortium look forward to even greater progress in the years ahead.
”We commend your visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to progress,” he added.
