As the drumbeats of Eid el-Kabir fade and Nigerians return to daily life, the ruling party’s national chairman says the spirit of the celebration should translate into renewed public support for President Tinubu’s economic agenda.
All Progressives Congress National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has called on Nigerian Muslims to channel the core values of the just-concluded Eid el-Kabir celebration into active support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ongoing reforms, describing sacrifice and patience as virtues the country urgently needs at this stage of its development.
Confiance News gathered from a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda on Wednesday.
He said the spiritual lessons of Eid el-Kabir, rooted in the story of Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience and selflessness, are directly relevant to Nigeria’s current economic reality.
”While the reforms may require patience and shared sacrifice, they are necessary steps towards restoring economic stability, strengthening institutions and securing a brighter future for generations yet unborn,” the statement read.
The APC chairman framed the post-Sallah period as a moment for national recommitment, urging citizens across ethnic, religious and political divides to prioritise peaceful coexistence and collective responsibility. He stressed that the values celebrated during Eid, including unity, compassion and tolerance, are the same values required to build a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.
Yilwatda expressed confidence that under President Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria will emerge more economically competitive and resilient. He appealed to Nigerians to offer prayers for peace, security and divine guidance for leaders at all levels, and called on the Muslim Ummah in particular to remain steadfast in supporting reforms targeted at improving infrastructure, creating jobs and achieving sustainable economic growth.
He prayed that Allah accepts the sacrifices and worship of all the faithful during the celebration, and grants every family peace, good health and abundance in the days ahead.
