Nigeria’s apex monetary authority, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said that it is working with the Nigeria’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to the person with highest shares in FBNHoldings Plc.

Confiance News gathered from the post-MPC press briefing organised by the apex bank on Tuesday.

“And of course, if our position is not in tandem with that of SEC, we will talk to SEC about it.”

Confiance News recalls that FBNHoldings have been in the news over who owns the highest shares between Taiwo Hassan-Odukale and Femi Otedola.

Mr Hassan-Odukale claims he has a 5.36 percent interest in the group whereas Mr Otedola openly declared his holding of 5.07 percent prior to Odukale’s counter-claims.

Reacting further, Emefiele expressed satisfaction at the recovery and patronage FBNHoldings shares now has as opposed to the erstwhile near stagnant state.

“I am happy to see that they are competing for the shares. Of course, we all know that First Bank is so large that no single person can own it. In running the banks, they should see themselves as representing others,” he stated.
