Journalists have been advised to play down the agenda of religious extremists in their reportage.

Confiance News gathered from the Head,  Extremism Desk, HumAngle, Aliyu Dahiru, on Thursday, in Kano.

He noted that most of the religious extremists enjoy the publicity given to them by most journalists who amplify their agenda.

Dahiru, however, advised journalists to humanise their story by paying more attention to the victims than the perpetrators of crime.

“Humanise people. Tell the story of the victim not the terrorists. Highlight the human experiences within extremist networks and religious communities,” Dahiru stated.
