Body odour is caused by sweat mixing with bacteria on your skin.
Confiance News gathered that the easiest way to eliminate body odour is by taking a bath or shower, which will remove bacteria from your skin.
However, for many people a daily shower or bath may not be necessary. Showering a few times a week, especially after you exercise or do other activities that make you sweat, may be enough to rid you of body odor without drying out or irritating your skin. After your shower or bath, apply an antiperspirant and deodorant.
Most over-the-counter antiperspirants contain aluminum-based compounds that block your body’s eccrine glands, preventing you from sweating. Deodorants repel the bacteria that cause odor, and may contain an additional fragrance.
Some products combine an antiperspirant and a deodorant.
If over-the-counter products do not control sweating and body odour, your doctor can prescribe a stronger prescription-strength antiperspirant/deodorant.
There are several natural remedies that can help reduce body odour.
Some common herbs, vegetables, fruits, essential oils and kitchen ingredients make great home remedies for body odour. Witch hazel is one such ingredient that can lower skin’s pH and thus makes it impossible for bacteria to survive. When applied on skin, witch hazel lowers skin’s pH and thus makes it impossible for bacteria to survive. Thus, in the absence of odour producing bacteria, you get relief from your body odour.
Vinegar can also lower the pH level of your skin so that you feel fresh for the whole day without worrying about your body odour.
Certain oils like coconut oil, tea tree oil, lavender oil, and peppermint oil can be used to combat bacterial overgrowth and body odour.
Lemon juice can be used to remove body odor. Just like vinegar and witch hazel, lemon juice lowers your skin’s pH level making it difficult for odour producing bacteria to survive. Moreover, lemon can be used by even those who have sensitive skin that cannot tolerate even vinegar.
Drinking lime juice with water can also help reduce body odour as the vitamin C and flavonoids in lime juice help rejuvenate the skin and keep it shining. Its antibiotic and disinfectant properties protect it from infections and reduce body odour.
