Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) check disturbances by hoodlums at a polling station in Kano, the commercial capital of northern Nigeria, on February 23, 2019. - Nigeria began counting votes in presidential elections, even as many people had yet to even cast their ballot because of delays in the opening of polling units and problems with staffing and technology. Nigeria's Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) last week announced a one-week delay to the election, just hours before it was due to get under way. Crime rates have been on the increase since the lockdown started in some parts of Nigeria- a measure adopted by Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari to contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

Confiance News gathered that there have been reported cases of daylight robberies and even rapes. Although, Okigwe Local Government Area (LGA) in Imo State is not among the three states (Lagos, Ogun and Abuja) that have been on lockdown since March 30, it is not surprising that it is partaking from the spillover effects of the consequences therein.

This video, explains people’s reactions to the alleged high-handedness, extortion, among other excesses of Law enforcement agents, particularly those of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

A situation that has elicited the indignation of many Nigerians who have called on the government to end the existence of SARS under the popular hashtag- #ENDSARS.
