An X user known as Kelani Kelanious has thrown some thought-provoking questions at Union Bank to ascertain the success off the recent fire drill embarked by the bank.

Confiance News gathered from the comment section of the bank recently. He said: “What’s the response time of evacuation,What are the necessary take away to be of the exercise,Any or plan collaborative efforts with neighbouring buildings,How reliable are the public agencies involved?????”

Confiance News recalls that on the 23rd of October, 2024, the company embarked on a fire drill to ascertain its readiness in the event of a fire out break.

Although it stated on its official X handle that the drill was a success because of the orderly manner in which employees were evacuated, the questions raised by Kelani Kelanious is a food for thought.

The bank said: “Earlier today, a comprehensive fire drill aimed at improving safety protocols and ensuring preparedness in case of a real-life fire emergency was conducted at our Head Office (Stallion Plaza), 36 Marina, Lagos.

“The fire drill which was carried out in collaboration with key emergency response agencies, including the Lagos State Fire Service, the Nigerian Police, and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority simulated a coordinated response to a fire emergency focusing on rapid evacuation, effective communication, and timely intervention.

“During the drill, employees across all 26 floors of the building were evacuated in an orderly manner, while emergency services showcased their expertise in handling fire hazards and managing traffic flow to ensure the safety of all participants.

“The question on the reliability and swiftness of the public agencies involved in real life situations is salient and would determine to a large extent, how a fire incident can be better managed.
