Your value is the real essence of you and the real essence of your existence.
The Pastor in charge of Lagos Province 20 of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Tunde Netufo, explained on Sunday.
“When you talk about your value, we talk about your effect. The real essence of you and the real essence of your existence,” he said.
He stressed the need to maximise ones value.
Citing the book of Judges 9:8-15 in the bible, he said that the story which is an allegory, illustrates the need for one to value oneself.
“We have seen an example of an allegory.
The trees in this case desire a king. The position of a king is an honourable and desirable one.
However, the olive and fig trees declined the offer of kingship. They believed in themselves and prioritised what they do,” Netufo said.
Confiance News gathered that an allegory is a story, poem, or picture that conveys a hidden meaning, often moral or political. It uses symbolism to represent abstract ideas or concepts.
He noted that there is a need for you to appreciate yourself and not look down on yourself.
“If you have low self esteem. The possibility of going far is very slim.
The position you’re occupying today is an exalted position. You are fearfully and wonderfully made.
You are a peculiar fellow,” he added
Netufo who spoke during a Special Sunday service at the Solidrock Parish, Lagos, said that what makes you peculiar is God and your purpose.
Hold on to your vision
Netufo advised the congregation not to give up on their vision.
“Hold on to your vision. Vision is the pursuit of passion. Passion is the pursuit of your desire,” he said.
According to the passage he read in the book of Judges 9:8-15, he stated that when the Olive tree was called to become king, it declined the invitation.
“Olive stood its ground. Olive stood for success. Olive is an expensive oil,” he noted.
“A man who cannot stand for something will fall for anything,” he continued.
The Pastor noted that when the fig tree was called upon to be made a king, it also declined the offer.
Confiance News learnt that the reason why the Fig tree refused to be king is because of the value it attached to itself.
“By nature, fig trees are meant to bear fruit 24/7. Fig trees are meant to bear fruit thrice a year,” he explained.
He added that the Vine tree, which is one of the major raw materials for wine production has remained relevant because it was focused.
Netufo said: “The vine is another tree. The consumption of wine has gone global. It has been able to go global because it refused to be distracted.”
However, the Bamboo tree took a different stance compared to the other trees. Its decision to be king was not without consequences. It made it lose its value.
“The bamboo refused to appreciate its value and today it is the cheapest.
That is why I want to appeal to everyone of us to know what we are doing. Know your vision and your purpose.
If you are an accountant, write an accurate and unbiased statement,” he stated.
Four ways to maximise your value
Netufo urged the congregation to never undervalue their work. Noting that every great achievement starts with humble beginnings.
Citing the book of Daniel 1:9 and Romans 11:13 in the scriptures, he said: “Learn to attach value to what you do. Don’t despise the days of little beginnings.
Time makes things better. The glory of the later house shall be greater than the former,” he emphasized.”
More so, to maximise their value and make it to heaven, he advised the congregants to value their christian lives.
Citing the book of 1 Peter 2:9, he said:”Don’t say you are self made. We are all a product of grace.” Also reading from the book of Proverbs 27:1-2, he noted,”Let honour find expression in your life through many other people.”
Corroborating, the Provincial Pastor of Lagos Province 40, Pastor Bola Odutola, said:”It is an injury to honour, for a man to honour himself. No man must honour himself.”
“Until all of us come together and stand for what is right, we will never get it right,” Netufo quipped.
Again, Confiance News reports that to optimise your value, there is a need to uphold your dignity. Expatiating, Netufo said: “Dignify yourself through innovation . Innovation is to make things better. Conduct research. Improve yourself.”
Lastly, in maximizing your value, there is need to master good time management.
“Be a good time manager. You must use your time to the best of your ability. The story of the 10 virgins teach us:Timeliness, Resources management and Accountability. Do not be slothful in business,” he advised.
