The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nigeria’s telecommunications regulator, Dr. Aminu Maida, has been served another strategic role in the global communications sphere.

He has been appointed the Board of Director of the International Institute of Communications (IIC).

Confiance News gathered from a statement posted on the official website of the IIC.

His new role on the IIC board will allow him to share his expertise on a global stage, contributing to the creation of policies that support telecom and media growth worldwide.

Dr. Maida has worked with several top organizations, including British Telecom, Cisco Systems, and EE Ltd. He was also part of the engineering team at UbiquiSys Ltd, a small-cell technology startup later acquired by Cisco Systems.

Dr. Maida was the Executive Director of Technology and Operations at the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement Systems PLC (NIBSS); a position he held before being appointed the CEO of NCC.

At NIBSS, he modernized Nigeria’s digital payments system, making it a key part of the country’s financial network.

The NCC boss holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bath, an MEng in Information Systems Engineering from Imperial College London, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship from Cambridge Judge Business School.
