To ensure efficiency of telecommunications infrastructure in Lagos State, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA) have agreed to implement the Tower Enumeration Project.

Confiance News gathered from a recent repost by the NCC on its official X handle.

The collaboration was effected during a working visit to NCC by LASIMRA.

“A key topic on our agenda was the tower enumeration project, which aims to perform a thorough audit of all communication infrastructure within the state. We also highlighted the concerning damages caused by certain operators to public infrastructure during fibre installation,” the post disclosed.

“This important gathering represents a significant step towards strengthening communication and cooperation between LASIMRA and NCC, with the aim of tackling the urgent challenges facing the telecommunications sector in Lagos State,” it continued.

The meeting, the post stated, addressed key issues impacting the industry, placing a particular emphasis on the security and protection of telecommunications infrastructure in Lagos.

“We acknowledged the pressing need to identify and oversee these essential assets, ensuring they remain secure under the jurisdiction of the Lagos State Government,” it said.

According to LASIMRA: “Our conversation also highlighted the importance of establishing a united approach among NCC, LASIMRA, and related associations to restore order within the telecommunications landscape of Lagos State. We underscored the critical need to enhance connectivity and ensure that high-quality internet service reaches every area of Lagos, understanding that in today’s digital world, internet access is not merely a luxury but a necessity for everyday life.”
